The NPA was formed in 1977 with the aim of encouraging and supporting studio pottery and potters throughout the north of England. Over thirty years on we're still here, stronger than ever, and encompassing ceramics in all its forms - sculptural, functional, fine art, decorative - limited only by the imagination of the artist.
Membership is open to anyone and everyone with an interest in ceramics - makers, gallery owners, collectors - anyone who has a passion for clay in its many forms. We currently have about 340 members mostly in the north of England, but also some displaced northerners in Scotland, Devon, Holland, and France who like to keep in touch with their roots.
We publish a two monthly newsletter, exchanging news and views on all matters ceramic. We also organise demonstrations and workshops, inviting some of the best known contemporary practitioners to share techniques and anecdotes with our members and guests.
EXHIBITIONS & EVENTS
Our exhibition programme includes a mix of selected and open shows. We now have several shows a year there showcasing different makers every couple of months.
NPA is a not for profit organisation run by a committee of volunteers.
